Yesterday we had a real taste of why we drove all this way! Hiked up the Schramstein, a ridge of rocks a few miles from camp. Arrived in jena yesterday about 430. We were late setting off as we couldn't get up as early as planned after our late night and 22 hour travelling day on thur. Fantastic hospitality here. Wow what a start to the trip. I got about 5 hours sleep on wednesday night. Started thur well catching the 6am ferry rather than 630. We all trooped off to watch the Cowes Carnival this evening. I’m always a bit sceptical, as while some of the carnivals on the Island are excellent, others, well, aren’t.
