Today’s activities.

Ruth and her friend started the day writing out a script. This is the longest piece of writing Ruth has ever done,4 pages long written as a proper script.  They are trying to produce a filmed piece to enter into the Blue Peter competition and as such have been editing it down to make it short enough to get in the time limit.

Then they made lovely butterfly cakes to eat, Ruth has been planning this for days as she thinks my butterfly cakes are not proper ones as I don’t make wings only slice the tops off as little circles.

Next they continued work on making puppets and scenery.

And then we got a rough demonstration of how the play looked so far – not as good as it will be as the props and stage were still wet and they are missing a vital additional puppeteer/narrator.  After her friend had left Ruth took some cakes to another HE family and managed to exchange the cakes (and of course a courgette) for some carrots and onions and popped to the local shop to buy bread, she is now busy making herself some lunch and will then be tidying up from the art endeavours

So once again with no prompting from me they have done scriptwriting, drama, art and cooking as well as lots of co-operative working.  And just the usual everyday things have involved good life skills, using local shops, sharing with others, talking with people of other ages blah blah blah.  And what have I done?  Basically today I’ve played the role of facilitator I didn’t need to do more.  I’ve provided the ingredients, the art equipment, the space and time.  I’ve provided an audience to watch the play, I’ve talked through some ideas of where to go next with the play and how we can move it forward and I’ve made her tidy up after herself (well mostly). And most importantly I’ve got the bedroom tidied!

There will be more pics but i can’t seem to make them happen and my computer guru is not here to help :-(
