3 Course Meal
As part of our no plans week the children decided they wanted to do some more cooking. They decided to make a 3 course meal doing a course each.
They started off in the morning – Rebekah made bread and Ruth started off the Banoffee pie.
We thought we’d head out to the beach in the afternoon but the weather was not great. So I headed to church to do some painting, Ruth went to the library and round the shops with some friends, Jonathan sat at church watching videos with Jodie and Rebekah stayed at home doing maths.
We got back and after a piece of coffee cake started on the dinner.
Jonathan is an avid Hairy Bikers fan and he wanted to make the main course in the style of something he’d seen on the programme a couple of weeks ago.
First job lay the bacon out on the cling film.
Bash the chicken until it’s flat.
Lay the chicken on top of the bacon. Put the filling in the middle – in this case vegan soft cheese with herbs and garlic.
Wrap it up into a sausage shape.
Remove the clingfilm and wrap it in foil and shove it in the oven.
While Jonathan was busy with this the girls got on with their contributions.
Ruth finished off the Chocolate Banoffee Pie.
Rebekah got on with the mozzarella, tomato and basil tarts that we were having as a starter.
The finished tarts were lovely and beautifully served up, only spoiled by Rebekah trying to tip them all over the floor, but they were saved and lovely.
The starter was spot on, leaving us all hungry for the main course – which wasn’t ready yet.
So we ate some of Rebekah’s lovely bread rolls.
We did the starter dishes and then got on with dishing up the main course.
The chicken had come out of the oven just fine and now needed slicing.
Jonathan had his with garlic bread and the rest of us had sautéed potatoes and veggies.
We were too stuffed to eat the banoffee pie at this stage. We played Carcassonne and ate banoffee pie later in the evening. Very yummy it was too – Jonathan ate Rebekah’s yummy coffee cake instead.
Love the kids cooking – very yummy.

I was too stuffed for banoffee pie, but it made a fine breakfast this morning!
no wonder you didn’t eat all your tomatoes!
