Giving Up Facebook For Lent

Amongst other things I’m doing I’m giving up Facebook for Lent.  I have noticed something interesting through today, Ash Wednesday, I clearly think in terms of my Facebook status updates.

Susan Gibson:

has done two maths classes today.

is very impressed with Jonathan’s Wolf based art work, thanks @Jules.

has got rather wet collecting Jonathan from Rock Solid.

is wondering where Martin has got to as he is 10 minutes later home than the latest time he said he’d be back.

is being beaten by one of the games on Sumdog – not the maths bit but the whacking blocks bit.

is looking forward to watching Sherlock this evening.

has new podcasts on her phone – got to love the BBC.

is spending the time she would have been on Facebook looking at educational site for GCSE science and maths and interesting things for Jonathan.

It seems that not only do I have anything of interest to say but I clearly think in terms of posting it out to the world.   I didn’t expect to learn about myself that I think in terms of  Facebook – clearly I’m more addicted than I thought!  And I expect no one will read this as I won’t be posting a link to it on my Facebook page!

I saw it! I’m subscribed via Google Reader and though I don’t check it every day, I do skim down from time to time. Saw this post, so came to your blog to comment :-)

I did also consider giving up FB for Lent. But I don’t post that many statuses, and do like it for staying loosely in touch with friends around the world. Also for posting photos and blog links. But am attempting to cut down!

I get your blogposts in Google Reader so there’s no escape, Susan ;-)

FWIW, I don’t think that you would have posted most of those things you wrote above as a status update – or at least not all of them in one day!

Perhaps you’re right Annie- I would have posted one this morning though. Been listening to the Afternoon Drama Number 10 http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b01c7rq2 and wondering if all of their plot lines are taken from the West Wing or if politics is really just a constant loop never changing at least since the time of Yes Minister!
